Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to travel to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I joke that I slightly sold my soul to go on this trip to help shoot video for InFocus Productions, and it was totally worth it! The wedding teaser Stephen put together is stunning – videos like that almost want me to make me jump ship from photo. I’m so proud to have been part of the team capturing that couple’s wedding day and so grateful for this amazing opportunity.
There were a lot of firsts for me with this trip. This was my first time visiting Los Cabos as well as Mexico in general. I can now say that I’ve successfully driven in another country, which was a fun challenge with all the street signs being in Spanish and a very unfamiliar metric system (I basically never had any idea how quickly I was driving). Although I have been out of the country before, this was my first time traveling on my own. I did find that lonely at times even though I spent much of the trip around Stephen and Cristi. They were so sweet for letting me third wheel them like half the time that I was there, and we quickly became friends and not just people working together.
Getting to know Stephen and Cristi in the days prior made me extra look forward to their session. It was their first time taking couples portraits together, but I never would have known. They have such a loving and caring relationship that shows so easily through their affection towards each other both on and off the camera.
We had a great time along the beach near Villa Del Arco. I think most of the beach front in Los Cabos is private. We were one of the only people along this section in front of their resort, so it felt like we had the beach all to ourselves. Towards the end of our session, I let Stephen run off to get more drone footage of the sunset and the famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas, so Cristi and I had an extra mini session without him. I am absolutely still missing those gorgeous West Coast beach sunsets!
