“I could go on and on about how much we love Xiaoqi…but the moral of the story is: if you have the chance to work with her, do it!!” – Abby + Nick
Abby and Nick’s story and their fall Omni Homestead Resort wedding – to borrow words from Abby’s vows, was nothing short of a fairytale! Being close to both their own families and each other’s families and friends, their day was filled with so much laughter and sentimental moments.
Abby regularly went to the Omni Homestead Resort with her family growing up and always dreamed of having her wedding there. We even did their engagement session nearby as well! I love it when couples choose a sentimental location for their wedding day. Between the mountains, greenery, and elegant architecture, the venue was the perfect backdrop for celebrating their day and dancing the night away.
After getting ready with her friends, Abby briefly sent them away to finish up with her Mom. We then brought them back in for a first look together, which was met with happy screams of excitement. Even if you get ready with friends, it’s still so easy and fun to do a first look together!
Since the couple wanted to wait until the ceremony for the epic moment of seeing each other for the first time, we did a ‘no look first look’. Setting them up back to back around a door, they shared letters they had written one another. It was such a great moment these two got to share before walking down the aisle to say, “I do”. We couldn’t have asked for better weather to enjoy an Omni Homestead Resort outdoor ceremony on the Casino Lawn.
After enjoying dinner and toasts in the Empire Room, they moved to the Omni Homestead Resort Crystal Room for their reception. During parent dances, Nick surprised everyone, including Mom, during his first dance with her. Halfway through, he switched off with his brother Dominic. Mom missed out on having a first dance with Dominic when he and his wife Denise eloped last year. But with the switch, she got to enjoy that opportunity with both of her sons. It was such a selfless and memorable moment for the whole family!

Kind words from the couple:
“Xiaoqi is the absolute best! What sets Xiaoqi apart is how much she cares about the couples she works with. She truly spent time to get to know us, and it shines through in all of the photos from our engagement session and our wedding. What drew us to Xiaoqi was her talent in finding the best candid moments of joy and emotion, and she really delivered. She and her team captured every key moment from our wedding day, and every time we look through the gallery, it is like reliving the day in the best way. She even managed to capture tiny moments I’d forgotten about!
Not only is Xiaoqi an amazing photographer, but she is also a true confidant and friend. She is extremely organized, walking us through every part of the process pre-wedding and keeping us on track on the day of. She also shared her knowledge of the wedding industry, advice we valued greatly as we planned our big day. I could go on and on about how much we love Xiaoqi…but the moral of the story is: if you have the chance to work with her, do it!!”
