Ravens Roost is known for its amazing mountain views, making it a popular location for Charlottesville engagement sessions. I knew it would be perfect for Caitlin and Andrew’s vision of an engagement session amongst the Blue Ridge Mountains!
Being outdoors has always been a big part of Caitlin and Andrew’s relationship. The two have a love for hiking and being up in the mountains, so they wanted to showcase that portion of their relationship. When they’re not working, their favorite date night spot is Rue, a local French restaurant up in New York. When it comes to sweets though, Caitlin and Andrew have a shared love for chocolate! Caitlin loves Reese’s while Andrew loves peanut m&m’s and anything dark chocolate – a couple after my own heart!
The day of their session, we met up first at the Humpback Visitor’s center. The open field here had lots of room for us to move around. This was perfect for portraits with their dog, Rose. In case you’re wondering – yes, lots of dog treats were involved in this session! She has quite the personality that you can easily feel in their portraits.
As we got closer to sunset, we went over to Ravens Roost. Since the overlook faces west, it’s perfect for sunset sessions. It’s no secret this location has great mountain views, so it’s very popular on days with beautiful weather. I always recommend to my couples that we schedule their session during the middle of the week (Tues-Thurs) when it’s less crowded.
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect the day of Caitlin and Andrew’s session. Wait until you see how colorful and just incredible the clouds were that day! Overall, it was a gorgeous location for their session with mountain views, and a pup-friendly environment to easily explore while showcasing their fun-loving relationship. I can’t wait for their fall wedding this year at Showalter’s Orchard & Greenhouse!
