I had such a great time meeting Penny and Thomas at their summer Shenandoah National Park engagement session! Their session was a fun way to get some posing practice in ahead of their wedding next fall and enjoy photos with their playful pup, Maven. Fingers crossed Maven will also make the wedding, but for now she’s definitely featured on their wedding website. What a fun way to include their dog in their wedding celebration!
Penny and Thomas are fellow Hoos, having met during their time at the University of Virginia’s marching band. After their time at UVA, they dated long distance for 2 years. Finally when they were able to be together, Penny proposed to Thomas by campfire on a hike. He later proposed to her as well over the holidays with family. I love that they each planned a proposal to the other!
Throughout their Shenandoah National Park engagement session, the couple easily shared big smiles and laughter with each other. We started off at the Humpback Picnic center to get warmed up for their session. This area also gave us plenty of open space and grass to run around with Maven. Closer to sunset, we headed over the popular Ravens Roost area. Because it had rained earlier that day, the overlook wasn’t very crowded at all despite the beautiful weather. We really lucked out!
