A University of Virginia engagement session are especially popular for fellow alum who have many cherished memories together at their alma mater. This was definitely the case for Hannah and Ryan, making UVA the perfect place to celebrate their engagement!
We explored some favorite spots around the gorgeous architecture of the Rotunda and the gardens surrounding the Lawn. Of course, it wouldn’t be a University of Virginia session without my signature Rotunda photo! A few elements happened to line up beautifully in their ring shot. The warm orange glow paired perfectly with the cool shadows of the ring – just like the orange and blue of UVA. And if you look closely, you’ll find the Rotunda reflected in the prongs.
This wasn’t the first time I’ve photographed Hannah and Ryan because I actually attended not only the same college but also the same high school with Hannah and Ryan. These two have been together since homecoming all way back in freshmen year at Maggie Walker Governor school. I always joke that I went to school with nerds though – that we’re too focused on our education/careers to be getting married yet. So it’s still a little surreal that we’re really growing up!
But anyone that knew them from high school knew that they were always a unit, and it was a happy surprise a wedding was on the horizon. They’re getting married in the beautiful Jefferson Hotel this August. The Jefferson Hotel is such a huge part of Virginia history, having been around since 1895. It’s the perfect venue for Virginia natives to come together for an elegant celebration of the big day.
I can’t wait to celebrate with my fellow Dragons/Hoos Hannah & Ryan this August! It’s going to be so beautiful to see their love celebrated after all this time together and to see so many familiar faces at the wedding.
