Windy Spring Charlottesville Wedding | Ellie + Sam

If you thought high school sweethearts were cute – it took a little while for them to make it back into each other’s lives, but Ellie and Sam actually met in middle school! After years of friendship, the day had finally come for Ellie and Sam to be each other’s forever best friend. Their big day was a windy spring Charlottesville wedding at Montfair Resort Farm. The couple described their day all feeling like a dream. Ellie mentioned the morning of the wedding feeling “calm, ready and happy” for what was to come. I love a couple that can truly be in the moment, and these two were just that: so grateful and excited for the day!

Although it was March, I’m not even sure we had a ‘spring wedding’… there were actually intermittent hail showers as we were getting ready! But Ellie and Sam embraced the crazy weather, laughing and dancing throughout the day. I especially applaud Ellie’s bridesmaids, most of whom insisted on standing tall through the ceremony without any blankets or jackets.

I asked the couple about their favorite moment in the day, and Ellie said their ceremony was truly a highlight. She especially loved listening to their vows and just the general feeling of getting to marry her best friend. Sam couldn’t pick just one moment being his favorite. He loved the overall feeling of gratitude and appreciation for their storybook ending.

Following the ceremony, the couple continued the celebrations with their guests at Montfair’s reception lodge. The evening reception was filled with laughter, dancing, doughnuts, and love. Ellie and Sam had Carpe Donut instead of a cake at their reception. I love when couples choose a non-traditional dessert! It was another fun detail showing off their personalities, and something their guests got excited about. Having doughnuts at the event was a highlight for guests and the couple (and also myself!).
