Zoey and Andy’s 12 Ridges Vineyard wedding was a long awaited day for these high school sweethearts. The couple live in Seattle but decided to celebrate their wedding out here with family. Zoey and Andy’s day was filled with emotional moments, carefully planned details, and memories that will be shared for a lifetime.
The couple got ready together at a big house in Wintergreen. The space was perfect for having all their friends get ready together and party together for the weekend. Zoey and Andy both had mixed gender wedding party attendants. I love skipping the tradition of separating out wedding attendant sides by suits and dresses!
I was lovingly warned that Zoey’s Mom would be very emotional and to capture every moment. And before we even left for the ceremony site, just as Zoey’s makeup was completed, the tears from her Mom had already begun. The happy tears continued as Zoey put on her wedding dress with her Mom and sister. Then, we loosely set-up a first look with her brother Tate, and then finally her groom, Andy. Although we kept it all super casual, with Zoey simply calling out to each of them to just walk on over to her, each first look was just as emotional as the last.
After the first looks, it was time for their spring 12 Ridges Vineyard wedding ceremony. The ceremony site had gorgeous mountain views, setting a perfect scene for Zoey and Andy to enter into this new chapter together. Andy’s Dad was the officiant, and he did an incredible job! He spoke about how marriage should really be a verb, not a noun, because it is a continuous action. Zoey and Andy each wrote personal vows that left guests in a mixture of laughter and even more tears. The ceremony was a true testament to their relationship and how they feel about each other.
A few of my favorite sentimental details at the reception that you’ll see below are photos of the couple from throughout their 11 year relationship. It was such a fun way to see how they’ve changed yet also stayed the same over the years. Each table was labeled with a potential future puppy name (my personal favorite was Gremlin). Also very noteworthy were the amazing cookies. I assumed they were made by a professional vendor, but I found out they were actually made by Zoey’s Mom! These cookies have been famous among our friends and family for years.
Zoey was especially blown away by their Charlottesville florist, Hedge Fine Blooms: “Catherine perfectly pulled off simple but beautiful florals in green and white with just a bit of blue from thistles to draw on the moody mountain colors.”
After dinner, the sentimental words continued with toasts shared from several wedding party members. Andy’s Best Man, David, kicked it off and had us all in tears and laughter all over again. After dancing the night away, we ended the night with a sparkler exit. If you’re thinking about doing a sparkler exit, I highly recommend the extra long wedding sparklers so you have lots of time to light all of them and the option to run through them a second time.
