Caitlin and Paul’s summer Potomac Point Winery wedding was a long awaited celebration following their COVID mini-mony the previous winter. Although they were already legally married, they were just as excited for the big wedding to finally get the party with their family and friends. Potomac Point Winery was the perfect venue for their romantic summer winery soiree. The couple worked closely with their wedding coordinator, Sara, to bring their dream day to life. The couple wanted to create an event to remember for years to come with a romantic first look, a soiree type feel, and a light-hearted ceremony for guests to enjoy. And you’ll see shortly it was absolutely a success.
The rain was of course a bit of an unexpected addition to the day. But Caitlin & Paul were absolute rock stars about rolling with the weather! They wanted to enjoy the vineyard views throughout the day as much as possible. I always keep a pair of clear and white umbrellas in my car for my couples, so we’ll always have something for them that photographs beautifully. With umbrellas in hand, the show went on!
Their bright smiles remained throughout the whole day. The overwhelming feeling of excitement and joy was evident as Caitlin walked to Paul. After that, we went straight into wedding party portraits with their bridesmaids, groomsmen, and their dogs. On a cute and practical note – I loved that Caitlin and her bridesmaids wore coordinating sneakers!
Since the couple was already married, they decided to do something in place of a ring exchange. They got special permission from the venue to take a shot of white wine together! I also loved that the couple exited their summer Potomac Point Winery wedding ceremony in style, showered by guests with eco-friendly dried coconut confetti.
The couple and their wedding party kept the energy high with their reception entrances. Caitlin and Paul shared a table filled with their favorite desserts (a couple after my own heart), and a special wine cork seating chart – each cork was from a bottle of wine the couple shared!
All things considered, the weather gods were very much in our favor that day. We caught a break in the rain and got a gorgeous sunset towards the end of dinner! I so appreciated their trust in me to put a pause to reception events to step out for sunset portraits. It was so worth it to catch the dreamy golden hour of Potomac Point Winery’s vineyards. The night carried on with dancing, cake cutting, a photobooth, and wedding games. We loved helping Caitlin and Paul enjoy bringing their people together to celebrate their recent marriage.
