Being in Florida, my friends Michelle and Pete and I wanted to bring authentic Cuban wedding inspiration together. With the help of our local vendors who have Cuban heritage, we were able to respectfully style an incredibly colorful and fun event.
We got to show off one of my favorite Miami venues, The Cocoplum! Rosie & Fernando take such amazing care of their couples, and the neutral palette of the courtyard gave us the perfect space to let the colors and other details shine.
Some of our favorite authentic Cuban elements were the live cigar roller, guava & cream cheese pastelitos, mojitos, and fedora – which was selected by the one and only Fidel of the Havana Collection, as featured in Buzzfeed’s “The Try Guys Try Cuban Miami”!
We blended these Cuban cultural elements with tropical, modern chic wedding day inspiration. The wedding attire itself was minimalistic. The bride wore a lacey, white gown, and the groom wore a tan suit, fedora, and deep emerald green tie. In line with Florida’s tropical vibes, we used palm leaves and other greenery to accent the color found in the bridal bouquet, invitations, cake and fountain decor. Bright florals and colors were a common theme throughout the decor.
As a nod to the Hora Loca (Spanish for ‘the crazy hour’), we even had a mini dance party at the end – complete with a confetti pop! The Hora Loca is a Latinoamerican wedding tradition that’s like a party within a party. Performers come out in costume and props and perform a show and get the guests to carry the party on.
Styled events like these are one of my favorite ways to stay creative and try something new. It’s also been a great way to learn about different cultures especially while traveling! We had a blast during the Cuban inspired styled wedding, and hope you’ll find inspiration from this for your next event!
